I second this! I bought the Lems Boulder in the spring 2025 and I’m on the hunt for a new pair less than 1 year later. I work at a garden in California and grow flowers so I’m on my feet all day. The Jim Greens doesn’t have women’s sizing for smaller feet like mine – men’s 7 are way too big for my size 7 women’s feet. I’d like to purchase a pair of the Barefoot Bruin-Patriot but the lead time is 3-4 months 🙁 I’m gonna give the Vivobarefoot a try for now. Thanks for compiling this!

In reply to Alril. Agree, Alril. Kids need solid boots, too. We rode quads through woods and helped our parents as they built their house. And when cutting, splitting, stacking logs for firewood, tennis shoes did not protect the toes from a dropped log. Maybe once the adult market becomes more popular, a few brands will invest in kids' sizes.

I am using the Wideload for 4 years, for the width they fit ok to my 6E duck feet, but because they are high volumn so my feet “swim” inside . Time to retire them and I prefer flat boots. Judging the proportion length/width merely from the photos, it is hard to think Gaucho Ninja could be wider than the Wideload 🙁 otherwise would be a perfect pair. I read comments on their website also state they are not wide let alone extrawide

Thank you so much, this helped me make a decision and buy the Birkenstock's removed the innersoles and just put some warm liners from my winter barefoot boots and omg my feet and back are so much better, I was at the point of wondering if I would go the same way as so many of my work colleagues who all have foot issues, one has recently had a foot opp and been medically retired. It's just the beginning of my journey into fixing my feet but you have given me hope that I can stay in a job I love

In reply to Rebecca Senior. The Wide Load ones definitely have a sizable heel. The Birkenstock ones have a small drop, but are practically zero drop if you replace the insole with your own flat one.

Hi Anya – thank you for all that you do with these reviews, they’re a lifesaver. Are these work boots all zero drop, do you know? It looks like some of the best options are currently out of stock or unreasonably expensive to ship to the UK (the Carets). But, I’m worried that the Birkenstocks & Wide Load have some kind of drop?

I would emphasize the “light” work for the Lem’s boulder boots. Mine lasted less than a year on the homestead with three season daily use before wearing a hole through one toe. The waterproofing started to fail within the first couple months. Stitching on the other boot started to fail not long after the first hole. They were comfortable, but I was quite disappointed in the quality for the price.

Other than the Wide Load Australia boots most of these would be death if you work on concrete for your work week.
Hoss has a newer Buster series with a 6E cap.

I wish they made shoes and boots more than just extra wide. Widths come in 2E, 4E, and 6E. 8E exists but it promotes higher top with a 6E width. My husband can fit into a 6E, but most footwear doesn’t accommodate larger widths. I am a 4E and even that can be difficult to find. Have you run into any work boots that provide better widths with a better toe box?
