I personally wouldn’t worry too much about socks at night, especially when it’s cold, since that’s not a time when they are using their feet to get sensory feedback.

We’ve always felt like her feet get cold at night…

We also avoid shoes when it’s cold outside by using some really warm socks (our child is 12 months). What do you do for cold days?

Hey Carolina, Vivobarefoot makes some great little toddler boots for fall/winter, and we also like the Toasty Dry booties from Jan & Jul.

Hi Michelle! We were surprised at how flexible the Retro sneakers were and when we inquired with Ten Little, they actually let us know that all their current models now feature the same outsole as the Retro sneaker with a lower profile. This new design allows for more flexibility in the sole since the edges do come up as high. We really like them!

I need your help finding the perfect shoes for my 1.5-year-old son to wear to the park every day in New York during fall and winter. I’m looking for something that’s waterproof, comfortable, and suitable for the cold and wet weather in the city. Do you know of any models or brands that would be a good option? I’d love to hear your recommendations. Thanks!

Is that the case with the Retro sneaker as well?

They have almost the exact same design only with the addition of rubber reinforcement for the soles. I bought Ebooba shoes for my toddler after seeing them in this list and she wore a whole right through the sole within 2 months. When I contacted the seller he basically just said that they aren’t designed for outdoor use and dint provide a replacement.

Unfortunately their shoes do not look like they are barefoot friendly anymore.

Do you still recommend any of their shoes? Looking at the “easy slip ons”. Thanks!

Hi! Meriweather makes little waterproof soft sole boot that works well for that age.

It seems most weather/soft rubber outsoles are meant for more experienced walkers or older kids. I’m seeking a shoe that my kiddo can wear to daycare where they sometimes go outdoors to play in the United States pacific northwest with some drizzling rain (if it’s really raining, they put on rainboots – but this is more for just damp outdoors/drizzling lightly nearly every day). Suede/leather soles don’t quite cut it. Thank you!

Samantha’s son has very chubby thick feet and they worked excellently for him at about that age.

I have a confident 20 month walker who has thick/high instep feet, wondering if you could recommend a brand. Are the viva pluma knits, stretchy enough for thick little feet?

Zutano booties have grippy bottoms in 12+ month sizes. They work great as little indoor booties.

Any suggestions for slippers? Or would you just suggest socks with grips for wearing inside during the cold winter months?
