Hi Heather, from the options on this list I would check Zlatush and Jenon Leather for hiking options. If you would consider hiking in sandals, there are some hiking options there also like Shamma Sandals.

I’m at the end of my rope trying to find shoes the past 10 years. I have metatarsus adductus and had surgery to make my foot narrower but still can’t find anything. ): Thank you!

Hi Kerry! We carry quite a number of nice styles that go up to a 45/46 EU at Anyas-Shop.com! Aintap Barefoot Feel also does a lot of customizations and can make you a color/style combo you love in your size. Depending on your style preferences, I would also recommend looking at Be Lenka barefoot. Many nice models with a wide toe box in your size.

Hi Anya,
I have very difficult feet and need to find shoes like those featured on your Reviews website. I’m a 6 foot tall woman with Extra Large size feet, size 13 U.S. (45/46 EUR). I also have hammer toes, so find the wide toe box styles most accommodating and comfortable. I’ve been searching for companies, brands etc. who make footwear to fit my very big feet and am hoping you have resources and knowledge to point me in the right direction.
Gratefully, Kerry.

With significant neuropathy I would consult with your physician. You can get custom shoes that can accommodate orthotics if that’s what you need, but it might not be a great idea to go cold turkey into barefoot shoes.

I haven’t had a chance to wear them yet, but my problem is I have neuropathy but it’s pretty bad and the one left leg is weak and I need support for my feet and ankles. What is your suggestion on what type of sandals and shoes I should get Thank you

Hi Alejandro, thanks for sharing this with me. I’m happy you’ve made some progress in your health and body, good job. As far as education on shoe making, I can point you to a few places. This following two Facebook groups are all about making your own minimalist shoes:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/minimalshoes
https://www.facebook.com/groups/2449600625261023

And this e-shop sells tutorials for how to make your own:

I don’t know of any in-person courses here in the states. The only ones I’ve ever seen were at Softstar Shoes in Oregon, but it seems they only do those occasionally. Hope that helps get you started!

I’ve been following your work for a while. I’m 22 and I’m from California and during the pandemic I developed neuropathy…from 20 to 21 I really struggled and during that time the articles on your website helped me transition to barefoot shoes. Now I’m in a better place in terms of my health and now I am able to stand for long hours and now I actually have the physical capability to have a job. I work as a cashier…I don’t want to do that for the rest of my life…I’d like to design and make my own shoes and sandals but I have no idea where to start. I don’t want to go the art school route and take classes at a university to design shoes on a computer….I’d like to have a more hands-on and DIY experience and education. I have a DIY spirit and it’d be great if there was some barefoot shoe making apprentice program or something like that…there are many more visible opportunities for apprentice education programs in a country like Germany… not so much of those here in the US sadly. By any chance do you know of any programs like this or any resources for me to start to experiment and make my own shoes and sandals? I thought I’d ask you since you seem to be very connected with this space and the barefoot shoe community. I’m very inspired by these custom barefoot shoe brands. Thanks! 🙂
