They have a removable insole and the uppers are soft and stretchy, so for us they worked well for all foot volumes. My son with medium volume feet is wearing them with the insole and with added knots in the elastic laces to tighten them. But Samantha’s child with wide, high volume feet can wear them as is. I just wrote about them in my newsletter yesterday because they have more reliable inventory now – we really like them!

hmmmm, we have had really good luck with our Vivo and Be Lenka shoes but they are pretty pricey (however we get a full year out of them, so don’t have to buy many shoes). My kids also really love the Saguaro shoes, and even though they get hashed they keep wearing them for quite some time. It might end up being cheaper to replace those a couple of times a year than to replace more expensive ones.

Having a major issue with the xero prio shoes – my kids love them but they wear them to school on a daily basis- these shoes are barely making 3 months and the then the rubber is separating from the sole…. This is happening on all three boys shoes- I can’t afford to be buying three new pairs of shoes every three months – do you have any suggestions of a good quality shoe that looks like traditional shoes that won’t fall apart?

Hi Rosie! Livie & Luca has some models on their “honeycomb sole” with a wider-than-conventional square shaped toe box, but none are zero drop. They all have at least a small heel lift integrated directly into the outsole itself, so removing the insole won’t change it. If toe space is the most important characteristic you’re after then they’re pretty good for that.

I haven’t seen L-Run, but they look pretty good! FeetCity has a similar price range and look on Amazon. Stride Ride in the small sizes is usually good, but I’ve come across some that are too stiff and heeled. If you are looking at them in person you’d be able to inspect them and find one that is wide, flat, and flexible!

We love Robeez! See Kai Run is not quite a true barefoot shoe brand, but we have worn them and they are pretty close. They have a little bit of a heel and not quite as much toe space as I prefer.
